Our Company
In May of 1961 Les Kattenhorn created L. A. Kattenhorn & Partners Limited.
Running out of a small rented lock up to the side of The Bird In Hand Public House in Lovedean Hampshire, and out of Les & Carole Kattenhorn’s private home in Wheatsheaf Drive Cowplain in a small purpose built extension, the company began with a very small workforce.
In 1975 Les Kattenhorn purchased a yard with planning permission to build new offices and a workshop at 231 Lovedean Lane, just minutes up the road from its original base.
The workforce increased over the years with some of its members still being with the company today, both Les & Carole’s sons, David and Lee Kattenhorn naturally joined the company working within the workforce then becoming a major part of the business itself, David Kattenhorn becoming a director.
The Company as well as its fleet grew steadily over its years at Lovedean Lane and became a very highly accredited company causing the company to expand.
This lead to the decision in the millennium year for the company to move premises where it resides today. The company moved to New Lane, Havant where the fleet has grown substantially over the ten years in has been there.
In more recent times David Kattenhorn has taken on the day to day runnings of the company due to Les having unfortunately been on long term sick leave. David has kept the company moving forward with his father’s guidance and brother Lee’s assistance as contracts manager. David Kattenhorn has won some of the largest contracts the company has ever been involved in such as a current contract in Adanac Park, Nursling awarded by TRANT construction. Also Sainsbury’s store Uxbridge Road, Slough, awarded by P.J. Carey (Contractors) Limited which included a high amount of night works also.
The company still follows the traditional path it has always followed and continues to be successful. The company very much looks forward to the future.
The beauty of L. A. Kattenhorn & Partners Limited is the fact that as we approach our 50th Year in business the company is still a very family orientated company now reaching a 3rd generation in the family with two of Les & Carole’s grandchildren now having joined the force.
We have three machine gangs, two hand lay gangs and two ground working gangs as well as DekorGrip technicians with countless years of experience between them.
This gives us the opportunity to take on the smallest to largest of jobs.
We have a very traditional sense of how a business should be run and have developed very strong relationship with our clients over the years such as P.J. Carey (Contractors) Limited and Graham Moyse Contractors Limited.
